Electrical Light Poles Wallpaper : Denchu

Hiroshi was asked to design a wallpaper for Bloompapers, a Barcelona-based wallpaper supplier. When one thinks of Japan or Japanese culture, it is likely that minimalism, order, and ancient customs come into mind, along with karoke, geishas, and sushi. Yet with this project, Hiroshi strayed from these conventional symbols and was inspired by an object that represents Japanese urban life to him.Denchu is the Japanese word for utility pole. Hiroshi believes that although very chaotic with a ‘mess’ of cables, this chaos is also beautiful. Electrical light poles are a symbol of progression and city life, not an easily understandable symbol but one that certainly contrasts the norm.

Additionally, this image that is so familiar to Hiroshi does not exist in Spanish metropolitan life. Utility wires are kept underground in Spanish cities, which makes this design all the more striking to the Spanish. This wallpaper design comes seven color choices: blue, green, orange, red, pink, sky blue, and white. There are three standard sizes but Denchu can be customized to fit any wall, just type in the dimensions your wall requires and voila.

Bathroom that works best for the person living alone : Oneself

Designer Pavel took the concept of utilizing the economy of a single space to develop the “Oneself” bathroom: a bathroom that works best for the person living alone. The essential elements of a full bathroom are incorporated into the wall space, blurring the line between design and utility, conservation and functionality. At a first glance this might appear a simple and good idea, but I think that this idea would be very hard to be created in reality. – Via

Modern Loft Gleimstrasse in Berlin by Graft Architects

Graft Architects has designed this modern loft Gleimstrasse located in Berlin, Germany. The architects transformed the loft gleimstrasse room of a typical 19th-century building into an ultra modern loft design. The Graft Architects described this modern rooftop loft design as an “unfolded cocoon for an open mind,” with an “interplay between private and public spaces.” The layout is open-concept, with a kitchen, living room and bedroom designed for socialization.

Meanwhile hidden from view, functional spaces for storage, beds and sofas, closets and staircases are built into a sculptural wall which the architects call a “mega form” that defines the loft’s various areas with a cave-like quality. One thing this modern loft has in common with most houses, old and new – the kitchen is the hub of the home. This kitchen is finished in high-quality concrete plaster, appearing as though it was carved from a single block. Folding windows and doors open onto two 13-meter balconies, bringing the outdoors in.
